Do you deliver/ship your product?

We offer shipping across Canada and the United States - shipping prices vary depending on location.

In Canada we ship from Thunder Bay, Ontario.
In the United States we ship from Grand Marais, Minnesota.

Do you ship internationally?

We are based in Canada, we offer shipping to the United States and can offer international shipping as well worldwide.

Please contact us directly for orders outside of Canada as we use a wide variety of carriers to obtain the best possible shipping rate on international orders.  We can also recommend an order quantity to maximize the value of your order.

How can I pay for my order?

We accept a wide range of credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, American Express) as well as other forms of payment (we can send an invoice with digital encryption for secure payment).

We can also accept cash and debit at markets and events.

Orders with shipping will not be packed or shipped until payment is received.

When will my order ship?

We make every attempt to ship your orders as quickly as possible - there may be delays beyond our control (supply chain issues, items on pre-order).

Retail orders are shipped once assembled, sometimes it can be same-day, sometimes it may be longer (particularly for orders placed on weekends).  Tracking information will be sent and e-mails to update you on the process will be sent as well, please check your junk e-mail folders for this information.

Wholesale orders are prepared and shipped once payment for the order is received, we do not offer payment terms on our products due to high demand and the small batch handmade nature of our product.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?

Yes, we offer wholesale pricing for retailers interested in carrying our products. Please register an account using the login menu at the top of our website, then please email sleepinggiantbiscotti@hotmail.com to be granted access to the retailer orders page on our website. We are also able to ship across North America (Canada & United States).

Do you offer catering services?

Anyone seeking our products at large gatherings, meetings, events is encouraged to reach out to us to explore options.

Our products come in a variety of flavours and are a wonderful accent to pre-existing fully catered events or any gathering that involves hot beverages!

We can prepare platters of various sizes and flavours for any event - we also get a lot of requests for wedding favours, consider our biscotti for your special day, they are an excellent, consumable table favour for guests!

Are biscotti healthy?

Generally speaking, yes!

Though it is typically considered a rich dessert, biscotti is surprisingly low on sugar - our recipe uses only one cup of sugar to produce an entire batch of 24 pieces!

We obtain the majority of our flavour from the ingredients added - whether it's dried fruit, nuts, chocolate (less healthy - but hey, live a little!), spice blends or the highest quality pure extracts to impart flavour; one thing is certain, you don't need to feel guilty enjoying our product!

"I don't drink coffee, so I don't eat biscotti."

Though biscotti in North America is typically paired with coffee, we have taken every effort to remove coffee from the equation where possible.

Our flavour profiles and biscotti have been designed to be friendly to a wide variety of beverages including tea, cider, hot chocolate and even cold milk!

Check our menu for suggestions on drink pairings for our flavours.  In Europe it is traditionally paired with an italian dessert wine known as Vin Santo.  It is also excellent with a bowl of ice cream!

One of our staff members doesn't even dip his biscotti at all, just eats it as-is!

What's the difference between European and North American biscotti?

Accepted Answer

European biscotti typically uses oil (typically olive oil) in their recipe which extends shelf life but leaves the flavour somewhat lacking.

North American biscotti recipes use butter (in lieu of oil) and eggs in some recipes which creates a softer, flakier cookie with a much stronger flavour.  These biscotti are still firm (but softer than European biscotti), as that facet of the production process is created by double baking the cookie which both recipes do.

Do you accept returns or refunds or exchanges?

Due to the nature of our products, all sales are final and we cannot accept returns or exchanges and do not offer refunds.

Where do you produce your product?  Are you licensed?

Accepted Answer

All of our biscotti are prepared and handled in a commercial kitchen that is regularly inspected by health authorities.

Our staff follow all necessary safe food handling protocols when preparing and handling the product.

Question 13

Are your products vegan/gluten-free?

Accepted Answer

No.

Unfortunately due to the premium quality of our product, our ingredients require non-vegan friendly components for the high quality end result including butter and eggs.

Gluten-free is something we are presently researching and developing, our intent on release of such a product is to have a minimal to negligible impact on the quality of the end product.

If the results of reformulation and testing do not result in a quality biscotti product, we will not be proceeding with the release.

Are any of your biscotti nut free?

Accepted Answer

Yes.

We have several flavours that are nut-free; unfortunately due to the nature of the commercial kitchen we use, and the products we produce with nuts - we believe it is appropriate to warn the public about the potential of cross-contamination though all due efforts are taken to ensure our nut-free products are nut-free. 
 
We cannot state that they are produced in a nut-free facility.

What is the shelf life of your product?

As with any product, storage conditions are the most important factor in determining shelf life.  Our product should be treated like anything else in your pantry, kept out of direct heat or sunlight but will last a minimum of 6 months.

Even though we don't use preservative rich ingredients, the baking process we use is part of our secret for using wholesome, natural, quality ingredients while maintaining a staggering shelf life.

We assure you once you taste our product, it won't be around long enough to push the shelf life limits!

Can I freeze the product?

Accepted Answer

Biscotti has an incredible shelf life due to the unique baking process, as a result extreme measures are not required to maintain freshness.

We recommend you don't refrigerate/freeze the product as it can pick up odours from refrigerated environments, just dry storage in a pantry will suffice.

That being said, if the product is frozen en-route due to shipping in the winter, there will be no ill effect on the biscotti.
